23. Explore rich nature in Shinjuku Gyoen in heart of Tokyo

Enjoy observing plants and wild insects in the nature of Shinjuku Gyoen, located in the heart of Tokyo.

Shinjuku Gyoen National Garden is a botanical garden that was once a feudal lord’s garden, and features a Japanese garden, a French formal garden, and an English landscape garden.

At Shinjuku Gyoen, we can enjoy beautiful plants throughout the year, such as cherry blossoms in spring, roses in late spring, and autumn leaves.

And in the vast nature observation forest called Mother and Child Forest, we can enjoy the recreated nature of secondary forest of the early modern suburbs Tokyo.

Because collecting living creatures, including insects, is prohibited inside of Shinjuku Gyoen, we can see many insects up close, including large beetles such as rhinoceros beetles and stag beetles, even though we are in the city. These large beetles can only be seen deep in the mountains near Tokyo.

Itinerary can be flexibly customized according to your preference, including exploring other parts of Shinjuku Gyoen, such as a stroll through the Japanese garden.
